Best Toys for 3 Year Old Boys

There are lots of great educational toys that 3 year old boys will love. My son's favourites include the Melissa and Doug See and Spell jigsaws featured below. The set includes 16 simple word puzzles and 72 wooden letters.  These have been great to introduce him to letters and he enjoys doing the puzzles. Giant floor puzzles such as the fire engine one below is another good choice. My son loves sitting down to do a puzzle together. My son's interest in letters has really started to grow sits he turned 3 and he also loves the magnetic letter set. The set contains 29 magnetic letters with which you can build simple words. Its been great to keep him occupied while I'm cooking/cleaning in the kitchen. Finally the Leapfrog Scribble and Write is good to help fine motor skills. Start by tracing simple shapes and progress onto upper and lower case letters. 

 3 Year old boys are just at the right age to introduce them to simple games. Pop up pirate is a classic, fun game, that's great for teaching about taking turns. Orchard Toys do a great range of games for preschoolers which I am a big fan of. The tummy ache game featured is a great simple introduction to board games. The object of the game is to collect enough healthy food cards on your board to win. It's educational and teaches about types of health food. It's also fun and quick so will keep children's attention. Another good Orchard toys game for this age group is the shopping list game which is a memory game. Getting a pack of large cards such as the Toy Story cards below are great for playing snap, pairs and other simple games. 

When my son turned 3 he was car mad, and he still loves them at nearly 3 3/4. He would be happy with just a box of cars to play with. Trucks, diggers, fire engines and other vehicles are also very popular. Diggers and dump trucks are great for outdoor play, in the sand (or mud - if you don't mind them getting dirty). They can also be used indoors to cart toys around. 3 years old is a good age to get a first remote control car. The Chicco Johnny Coupe car featured below is a good remote control car for very young children. The Step 2 road and rail table is a great alternative to a garage. There is a lid on the table so when kids have finished playing, you can scoop up all the cars into the table and put the lid on for an easy clean up.

My son has developed such as imagination since he's turned 3 and the toys below are possibly the best toys to get a 3 year old boy. He loves playing shop, doctor or pretending to fix things so any doctors kit, cash register or tool kit would make a nice gift. He also loves doing puppet shows and a puppet theatre provides hours of play. Finally, he is photo mad. He loves taking photos. He doesn't actually have a vtech camera at the moment but this is what I'm buying him this Christmas. 

3 year old boys have boundless energy and toys that make it easy for them to get outside and play are a good choice. My 3 year old loves his scooter. The scooter below is a great scooter for preschoolers, it changes from a 4 wheel scooter to a 3 wheel scooter to a 2 wheel scooter so will last for quite a while. The junior stomp rocket is a real fun toy. Stomp on the launch pad at the bottom of the rocket to see how high you can launch it in the air.

There are lots of great construction toys for 3 year old boys. One of my son's absolute favorite is the marble construction run featured below. He wanted to play with this everyday. He does need a little help but absolutely loves the toy. The Fisher Price trio building set is another excellent set for 3 year olds. There are 100 pieces and the set comes with 17 different designs of things to build. Otherwise just build from your imagination. Ideas include, houses, robots, bridges, animals, cars or whatever else you can imagine! 

Lego duplo is another good choice of construction toy for 3 year old boys. They are bigger than normal lego which is perfect for little hands to manipulate and build. They are great for improving creativity and imagination. Kids can build structures and constructions and then play with them for ages afterwards.
